Empowering Rwandan communities through legal awareness, advice, mediation, and support services for peaceful justice and social cohesion.
AMATEGEKO IWACU Organisation (AMIWO) is a Rwandan national non-governmental organization established to serve the public interest, with legal personality granted by the Rwanda Governance Board in 2025. AMIWO was founded on the belief that every citizen, regardless of their capacity or resources, has the right to understand the law and access justice. The organization focuses particularly on underserved communities in rural areas, where lack of legal knowledge and financial constraints often prevent people from protecting their rights. Through its programs, AMIWO promotes alternative dispute resolution (ADR), providing guidance and support for peaceful conflict resolution. It also assists individuals and communities in drafting essential legal documents and raising awareness about laws that affect their daily lives. By empowering people to know and exercise their rights, AMIWO contributes to building a fair, just, and harmonious Rwandan society.
To empower communities, especially those with limited resources, by promoting awareness of the law, supporting the drafting of legal documents, and encouraging alternative dispute resolution, in order to build a fair and just Rwanda.
Vision: A Rwanda where all citizens, especially those with limited resources, enjoy justice and resolve disputes through dialogue and mediation.
We collaborate with government agencies, civil society organizations, international NGOs, and local community groups to strengthen legal services and social welfare programs.
